Salix Collection

My most dramatic design collection! The form of the Salix pieces was inspired by all of the spruce needles that I would have to rake in my yard for several years. The each have a long thin channel in them, and I wondered what possibilities I could explore with enamel in a form like that. Each individual piece is cast in Sterling silver, with vitreous enamel fired into a center channel, sometimes with 23K gold foil fused into the surface of the glass, to add another color and texture. The silver is finished with contrasting textures to catch the light. I love the fact that these pieces are striking on their own, but become more and more lush, the more elements I add to a piece of jewelry.
